Product Description

This gift includes:
-1 nursing pillow from Blessed Nest made in the USA from 100% certified organic cotton, with a lead-free zipper, and filled with 100% organic buckwheat hulls. The unique shape and buckwheat hull filling allows it to contour to any body, providing the most support and comfort possible for both mom and baby. Highly recommended by health care providers and used in birthing classes and by Lactation Consultants, this versatile nursing pillow can also be used during pregnancy as a support pillow when reading, sleeping or even during labor, as well as at every stage of parenting (nursing by mom and feeding by dad, tummy time, bean-bag chair for toddlers, ...). Truly a pillow that is as natural and beautiful as breastfeeding itself.
Size: 30 inches (width) x 16 inches (depth) x 5 inches (height)
Weight: 6 1/2 pounds

Materials:
-The slipcover is made of soft and absorbent 100% certified organic french terry on the top & bottom and 100% certified organic cotton on the sides (made in India, GOTS certified).
-Inside pillow is covered in 100% certified organic cotton canvas (made in a US mill, GOTS certified).
-Inside pillow is filled with 100% organic buckwheat hulls (directly from a US farm) which assures, stability, flexibility and proper air circulation (no sweaty baby!).
-No toxic fire retardants. Nothing about this pillow attracts fire like, say a petroleum-based foam might, so there is no need to treat it.
-Lead-free and nickel-safe YKK zipper.

Care:
-The outer cover is removable and machine washable. Machine wash in warm water and dry on a medium to high setting.
-The inside pillow can be spot cleaned and thrown in the dryer for about 15 minutes to keep it sanitized and free of dust mites. Because we use the hull of the buckwheat there is nothing in it that attracts insects or promotes mildew. It is important to air-dry the pillow insert before replacing the slipcover if it does become wet, but the cotton canvas and the loose filling help to circulate air.

All Nesting Pillows and Nest Eggs are lovingly handmade in Blessed Nest’s Kansas green studio under strict supervision and fair labor practices.

Why Organic Cotton is Better than Conventional Cotton?
-No chemicals: Organic cotton is grown without pesticides and fertilizers, unlike conventional cotton, which uses 25% of the world's insecticides and 10% of the world's pesticides. For instance, it takes roughly a third of a pound of pesticides and fertilizers to grow enough cotton for just one T-shirt.
-Better for human health: Organic farming prevents farmers and the local population from being exposed to hazardous chemicals. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) considers 7 of the top 15 pesticides used on cotton in the year 2000, in the United States, as "possible", "likely", "probable", or "known" human carcinogens.
-Better for the environment: Organic farming prevents soil erosion, protects air and water quality for plants and animals, and preserves species biodiversity through crop rotation.
-Safer product especially for a baby's sensitive skin: Clothing or toys made from organically grown cotton are free of much of the harmful chemical content present in conventionally grown cotton. Bleaches, formaldehyde, and other chemical finishes are also used in non-organic textile manufacturing. Even after washing a cotton shirt many times, chemical traces remain.
